I created a screencast about a website called Common Sense Media. This website allows students to learn the tools of digital citizenship, but in a more fun and interactive game. It also provides videos for students as well. This is a great tool for teachers to show digital citizenship to their students.
9.2 Candidates will understand that digital citizenship is a framework for using technology as a tool to build social capital.
The Critical Information Project focuses on making sure students are aware of the quality of the websites they are choosing to use on their projects. It is a way for students to use a checklist to analyze websites. This creates digital citizenship for the students to show them that they need to focus on the type of resources they are choosing.
9.3 Candidates will develop an understanding of the principles underlying legal statuses and regulations and make every effort to maintain the privacy of students' information in the course of providing instruction and resources.
This assignment focused on copyright rules. Students’ privacy is important when it comes to technology, as well as legal regulations. I discussed the importance of copyright rules and why they exist. It is especially important to protect students’ privacy and the students’ work.
